Now that everyone has stopped checking for updates, I think it is time to resurface ;)

Well, actually I haven't had anything to blog about lately. Really you don't want to hear about the plethora of soccer related activities that I spend most of my time doing lately. You also probably do not want to hear about how I am at a crossroads in which I must choose the path that I've been traveling or to return to school for another go at life. Those two things are basically the only things that are occupying me, and boring you with those thoughts would be irresponsible of me as the provider of written entertainment.

However, I have been playing a little game called City of Heroes as of late. It's a mighty good game, and I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't monopolizing my video gaming time. It's one of those online RPGs that are supposed to be inherently evil in nature because they have players so addicted that they forget about the rest of their lives. I have to say though, that I am a little surprised to find myself enjoying a game with an actual community integrated into it. I usually like my games of the single player variety or up to four players at the very most. The community is historically what keeps players addicted to these games. However, this is not the case with me. I mean, meeting new people is fine I guess but I'd still much rather play with my real friends. What keeps me coming back is the fact that I can now go out and be a superhero. You know, that stupid little childhood wish you were bombarded by cosmic rays, only to become a paragon of justice? Who's living it right now through a video game? Oh yeah, I am baby! It's all about kicking ass and taking numbers, then putting those numbers into your brightly coloured tights. What's better than that? Not much at the moment, I'm afraid.

Speaking of games, I've decided that I'm rather uncomfortable with the current trend in gaming that is war games. Specifically, I'm disturbed at how the historical moments that these games reenact get closer and closer to today. I thought it was bad enough when developers started making games that took place in World War II. Doesn't the phrase "never again" stem from that very war? Seriously, how do people find this fun? What's even worse is that Vietnam is officially off the "taboo subjects for games" list. Yep, you can now play games that reenact a war that still makes surviving veterans wake up screaming in the middle of the night. And while the rest of the world is off playing the next wave of Vietnam related games, I'll be patiently waiting to play Battlefield: Operation Iraqi Freedom.

So that's it for me. I hope to do this again soon... definitely with more reliability than last month's affair. My apologies to all of you who actually looked for something in this space. I'll try to be truer to my readers from now on.
